One of the most common questions I hear from home buyers is, “What happens during the home inspection in South Central Indiana?”

For many buyers, especially first-time buyers, the inspection can feel intimidating. Some worry that every issue discovered means they should walk away from the home. Others assume the inspection is simply a formality.

A Lesson I Learned as a Homeowner

Years ago, when I first moved to Indiana, I started hearing unusual sounds in the plumbing shortly after moving into my home.

After some investigation, I called a plumber.

One of the first questions they asked was, “Can you turn off the main water valve?”

Thankfully, because I had attended the home inspection, I knew exactly where it was located.

What could have been a stressful situation became much easier because I had taken the time to learn about the home’s systems before moving in.

That experience reinforced something I now share with buyers regularly.

  • Request a credit
  • Seek additional inspections from specialists
  • Negotiate further with the seller
